Teacher from Dixon Elementary in Chatham awarded Golden Apple

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Dr. Sonya Fields, who teaches second grade at Dixon Elementary School in Chatham, was awarded the Golden Apple Award on Tuesday.

Eyewitness News anchor Hosea Sanders handed out the award.

Each winner gets a tuition-free, spring quarter sabbatical at Northwestern and a $5,000 cash award.

The Golden Apple honors continue throughout the week.
