CHICAGO (WLS) -- A citywide effort has been launched to prevent violence in Chicago this summer.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel joined faith and business leaders to kick off a "Summer of Faith and Action."

He also has a suggestion for film director Spike Lee, whose film "Chiraq" has been amidst controversy due to its title.

"Come see this. These are the people of the city of Chicago. When I say, 'these people,' I mean every one of these faith leaders, community leaders and all the people they represent. These are the real face of the city of Chicago," Emanuel said.

Lee was in Chicago on Thursday along with actor John Cusack. He says his intent is to hold up a mirror to what's happening in the city.
