Girl sexually assaulted in stairwell, CPD says

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police issued an alert after a girl was sexually assaulted inside a high-rise in the Grand Crossing neighborhood.

The man followed the girl into an elevator and then forced her into a stairwell at an apartment building in the 6300-block of South Calumet on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. The sexual assault took place in the stairwell, police said, and the man then ran away.

The offender is a black male of an unknown age with a light complexion, 5'9" tall and 175 pounds. He was wearing a black sweatshirt with a hood pulled tight around his face.
