CHICAGO (WLS) -- A male juvenile has been arrested in connection with a shooting that critically injured a 22-year-old man and prompted a lockdown at a nearby school in Rogers Park, police said.

Police say the suspect allegedly fired multiple shots at the victim in the 7600-block of North Ashland on June 1 around 1:10 p.m. The victim was hospitalized in critical condition with gunshot wounds to the neck and torso.

The shooting, which occurred during recess at Gale Math and Science Academy, prompted a lockdown of the building. The school temporarily suspended recess due to safety concerns.

Police say the juvenile is being charged as an adult. No other details have been released.
