WASHINGTON (WLS) -- The United States Navy is still using Windows XP and it is costing millions of dollars a year.
Microsoft stopped supporting the operating system over a year ago.
Now, the Navy is paying the software company $9 million a year to continue updating Windows XP for its ships.
The Navy says it relies on older computers and programs that require the 14-year-old operating system, but said they eventually plans to replace those computers.
Windows XP first came out in 2001.
