Should Pride Parade move out of Boystown?

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Pride Parade has marched through Boystown for decades, but its future in Chicago's North Side neighborhoods looks uncertain.

Last month, more than one million people watched the parade wind through Uptown and Lakeview.

Despite increased police presence, there were several violent incidents and dozens of arrests after the parade. Some residents want it moved downtown, but others say it would take away the spirit of the parade and revenue for neighborhood businesses.

"Moving the parade downtown most of the neighborhood feels that we would get abandoned from the city services post-parade and into the night," Jim Ludwig, owner of Roscoe's Tavern, said.

Aldermen Tom Tunney and James Cappleman plan to meet with parade organizers, city officials and residents over the next few weeks before deciding whether to move the parade.
