CHICAGO (WLS) -- A boat crashed into a breakwall Saturday night, stranding three passengers near Calumet Harbor on the South Side overnight.

The Coast Guard said the boat was returning from the Navy Pier fireworks when they crashed. Three people on board climbed off the boat and sat on the breakwall overnight.

The boaters had no operable cell phone or other means to call for help.

The owner of the boat was cited for no registration, no fire extinguisher and no emergency flares.

The Coast Guard reminds boaters to take precautions and be prepared with proper training and safety equipment.
