INDIANAPOLIS (WLS) -- The Indianapolis Fire Department is rescuing riders from the Skyline ride after a mechanical failure caused the gondola to become stuck in midair.

WISH-TV in Indianapolis reports that eight people, including three children, were stuck on two cars, but that the Skyline's safety system performed as designed.

Ten people were rescued after a technical issue on the ride in June, WISH-TV says, and the ride also closed after an incident that stranded passengers in October 2014.

No one was reported injured. The Skyline ride is closed.
