CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Chicago man charged in a deadly church bus crash says the bus had mechanical problems.

The bus overturned last week near Indianapolis, killing a six-year-old boy and injuring eleven others.

Charles Goodman told reporters today, the bus had problems with the suspension and power steering and often overheated.

Goodman appeared in court today to face reckless homicide charges.

He was driving the bus from Saint Jude Family Worship center in Gary to a convention in Ohio when he crashed.
