Pavement buckles on Route 83 in Oakbrook Terrace

OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill. (WLS) -- Emergency repairs are underway after a road buckled in west suburban Oakbrook Terrace.

Crews shut down two of the three lanes of Route 83 between Riverside Drive and Roosevelt Road. That portion of the road is scheduled to reopen soon, officials said Thursday afternoon.

Officials said the road buckled due to heat.
