Labor Day weekend could see 7.4 million vehicles travel Illinois tollways

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Illinois Tollway anticipates 7.4 million vehicles will travel the tollway system this Labor Day holiday weekend.

That would be a nearly 3 percent increase from 7.2 million vehicles on the road during last year's Labor Day Holiday weekend.

This covers the time period from Friday, September 4, through Tuesday, September 8.

The heaviest travel is expected on Friday when nearly 1.8 million vehicles are projected to be on the road.

On an average day, about 1.5 million vehicles use the tollway.
