Alligator shows up on porch
An alligator frightened a South Carolina woman by showing up on her front porch one night

CONWAY, S.C. -- A South Carolina woman opened her door Sunday night to an unwelcome house guest: an alligator.

Shatrina Greenwood found an alligator that she named "Alex Bobby" sitting on her front porch.

At first, she thought her yellow lab was bumping up against the wall, but when she opened the door, she started screaming and called 911.

They called the Department of Natural Resources who called the snake chaser, a local expert in wildlife removal.

Snake chaser Russell Cavender arrived and started to wrangle the gator.

After an hour of coaxing, Cavender got the animal inside the truck.

He believes the gator was chased out of the water by an even bigger gator and arrived at Greenwood's doorstep seeking shelter.

Cavender says "Alex Bobby" is in a safe location.
