CHICAGO (WLS) -- Starting Friday, cars can be ticketed for expired stickers beginning the day after they expire. The fine is $200 a day.
You do have a 30-day grace period to purchase your city sticker after it expires without being charged a $60 late fee. However, during that time your car may still be ticketed if it is caught with an expired sticker.
Vehicle stickers are available at over 350 locations citywide, including currency exchanges, some of which are open 24 hours. The Chicago City Clerk's office will also be open from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 2, to give drivers an extra chance to buy their stickers.
