CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Chicago doctor said Saturday he was robbed at gunpoint while he was in Rio de Janeiro working as a volunteer for the Olympic golfers.

Kim Tee said he attended an event last week in an upscale neighborhood with a friend when he says someone approached them demanding money.

Tee said he gave the robber an old wallet with expired credit cards and small pocket change. Then he took off.

"I ran for my life," Tee said. "This was the first time in life I saw a real gun pointing at me so although I many have said I wasn't scared because of all the security but in my life I never seen a gun pointing at me."

Tee said he's thankful he and his friend were not hurt.
