CPD to get $2.3M from DOJ to cover overtime costs

CHICAGO (WLS) -- After seeing some of its most violent months in decades, Chicago is getting federal money to help cover police overtime costs.

The city is getting $2.3 million from the Department of Justice.

Aside from overtime, the money will help officers get upgraded equipment.

Last month, there were 90 homicides in the city - the most in 20 years.
