BARRINGTON, Ill. (WLS) -- A driver died after crashing into a Barrington middle school Monday afternoon, police say.

In a post to their Facebook page, Barrington 220 School District officials said the crash occurred along the driveway near the front entrance of Station Middle School around 2:35 p.m. No one beside the driver was injured.

Students were given an alternate dismissal procedure to keep them away from the accident, which occurred towards the end of the school day. The Barrington Police Department also provided assistance to school staff during dismissal.

Police say the car's driver died of injuries sustained in the crash. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
