NAPERVILLE, Ill. (WLS) -- Naperville residents are facing an electric rate increase beginning Monday.

The February 1 increase is the first of three hikes that will be implemented through 2018. It is also the largest at 8.3 percent and will affect both commercial and residential accounts.

Rates for residential accounts are expected to jump again in 2017 and 2018 by 3.6 percent.

Council members approved the increase to help address financial troubles.
