Elmhurst police investigating rash of business break-ins

ELMHURST, Ill. (WLS) -- Police are investigating a series of burglaries at businesses in west suburban Elmhurst.

Police said the thieves targeted two businesses just miles apart on the morning of April 9. A cash register and thousands of dollars in cigarettes were stolen from businesses in the 500-block of Lake Street and the 500-block of York Street, police said.

A third break-in was attempted at a laundromat in the 900-block of York Street.
