CHICAGO (WLS) -- Ending homelessness among Chicago veterans was the focus of Thursday's "Breakfast with the Mayor" event.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel pointed out that while we think of Chicago as a world class city, there are veterans living on Lower Wacker. He says it's time to make sure that ends.

"A home is more than just a roof. It's the ability to assemble your life and begin to take a different step on a different journey to bringing a wholeness to your life," Emanuel said.

The mayor urged people to help the homeless as we approach the holidays.
