CHICAGO (WLS) -- An effort to raise millions of dollars to help Chicago State University is moving forward despite the ongoing budget impasse.

Rev. Anthony Williams will announce a new effort on Wednesday to raise $10 million for the South Side institution.

CSU has taken drastic measures to keep its doors open for the rest of this semester, including sending notices to all of its employees that layoffs will happen if the school does not receive its state funding.

The university has also cancelled spring break.
