POLK COUNTY, Wis. (WLS) -- Good Samaritans came to the rescue when a vehicle plunged into an icy river in Northern Wisconsin.

A mother, her 5-month-old son and another adult were in the SUV. Police say the driver lost control and flipped the vehicle into the icy water.

Three men in a passing vehicle saw the accident, and jumped into the frigid water to help.

Shawn Spafford says he pulled the baby onto shore and performed CPR until the infant started spitting up water and crying.

Everyone is expected to recover.
