Grant Park Police Lieutenant Stephen Nardi charged with sex assault

GRANT PARK, Ill. (WLS) -- The Grant Park Police Department fired a lieutenant accused of sexually assaulting a family member after an almost yearlong investigation.

Stephen Nardi, 45, of Steger, Ill., was fired Tuesday after he was charged with criminal sexual assault. During the investigation, he was on unpaid administrative leave, officials said.

Bond was set at $250,000, and Nardi was ordered not to have contact with the victim. He also had to surrender all weapons.

Nardi's next Will County court appearance is set for September 10.
