CHICAGO (WLS) -- While many rang in 2015 with celebrations, a small group in Chicago spent New Year's Eve protesting police abuse.

They gathered at Pioneer Court Plaza at 401 North Michigan Avenue. Members of the group said the protest was "a festival of resistance."

The group said it was protesting the police-involved deaths of Michael Brown in Ferguson and Eric Garner in New York, in addition to dozens of others locally killed by Chicago police officers.

While officers watched, the group marched up and down Michigan Avenue.
