Inmate charged in 2002 fatal stabbing of Jennifer Boyd in Bedford Park

BEDFORD PARK, Ill. (WLS) -- An Illinois state prison inmate is charged in the stabbing death of an Alsip woman 12 years ago.

Jennifer Boyd was stabbed to death in August 2002 while working at the Public Storage facility in Bedford Park. The case went cold, but was reopened two years ago.

Police now say Steven Podkulski, 40, is charged with first-degree murder. He is currently behind bars at Statesville Penitentiary on unrelated charges.
