Kids clean up Austin neighborhood

CHICAGO (WLS) -- They may not always clean their rooms, but dozens of kids did clean up a West Side neighborhood Thursday.

Members of the "By the Hand" club picked up trash in a nine block of area of Austin. Along the way they urged people living in the neighborhood to join them.

Organizers hope seeing the kids will inspire people in other West Side neighborhoods to conduct their own cleanup. "By the Hand" provides after school programs for nearly 1,000 children.
