WARRENVILLE, Ill. (WLS) -- A man armed with a knife and wearing a "Scream" mask robbed one hotel and tried to rob a second early Monday in west suburban Warrenville.

The man, dressed all in black and wearing a mask like the one in the "Scream" movies, entered the lobby of the Hyatt House Hotel at 27554 Maecliff Dr. at 1:42 a.m., according to Warrenville police.

He approached the clerk, pulled out a knife and demanded money, police said.

"They said the individual entered, walked straight up to the desk armed with a knife and demanded cash," said Dep. Chief Mark Leonard, Warrenville Police Department.

The suspect made off with about $200 from the Hyatt's cash drawer, according to Warrenville police.

A short time later, the same suspect, again armed with a knife, entered the Residence Inn lobby at 28500 Bella Vista Pkwy. and demanded money from the clerk, police said. When he was unable to get any cash, he ran away.

Surveillance video showed the suspect is a 6-foot, 230-pound man wearing a black hoodie, pants, gloves and black Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star gym shoes with white laces and rubber soles, police said.

Police believe the suspect chose the locations for his robberies because of their proximity to I-88 in order to make an easy getaway.
