CHICAGO (WLS) -- Law enforcement across the U.S. are on high alert for attacks and violence over the Fourth of July weekend.

While there are no specific threats, officials aren't taking any chances in light of the recent terror attacks and growing threat from ISIS.

In New York a state of the art command center is up and running and heavily armed units patrol the streets.

In Boston there are metal detectors, checkpoints and security cameras throughout the city.

Authorities say the most important piece in the security puzzle is the public.

In 2015 alone, 40 people with suspected ties to ISIS have been arrested in the United States, including seven arrested in the last two weeks.
