Lombard synagogue vandalized, suspect arrested

LOMBARD, Ill. (WLS) -- Police in west suburban Lombard arrested a man suspected of vandalizing a synagogue Tuesday afternoon.

He is accused of breaking seven windows at Congregation Etz Chaim of DuPage County, located in the 1700-block of South Highland Avenue. Synagogue officials said there is also graffiti on the door and damage to the lawn.

The Daily Herald reports the congregation had its monthly board meeting Tuesday evening. Two police officers patrolled the grounds during the meeting.

The man in custody has not been charged.
