Man attemptted to grab girl walking to school in McKinley Park

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police issued a community alert on Monday after a girl said she was grabbed on her way to a middle school in the McKinley Park neighborhood.

The incident occurred at about 8 a.m. Thursday near 36th Street and South Paulina as the girl and her friend were walking to Evergreen Academy Middle School.

The girl told police that a Hispanic man in his 30s, who was captured on nearby surveillance video, tried to grab the girl.

She was able to get away unharmed.

The man is described as being about 170 pounds, and wearing black sunglasses, a green scarf and a light brown/khaki knee-length coat. His hair is short and spiky with a lot of gel, and he has a round, chubby face with acne scars.
