Man who survived semi strike killed by 2nd truck

MCHENRY, Ill. (WLS) -- A man survived being struck by a semi only to be killed by a second truck moments later on Route 120 in McHenry, Ill.

Robert P. Choate, Jr., 41, of Johnsburg, was walking on Route 120 near Kent Road when he was hit by the first semi-tractor trailer truck Tuesday morning. He survived that and was walking further when he was struck and killed by a second semi, according to officials.

Choate was pronounced dead just before 9:30 a.m.

An autopsy and toxicology tests will be performed Wednesday morning to determine cause of death, according to the McHenry County coroner.

The McHenry County Sheriff's Office is investigating the two semi strikes.
