Metra employee injured after train derails in rail yard

A Metra employee was injured after a train derailment in a rail yard near Roosevelt Road and Canal Street.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A BNSF employee was injured after a Metra train derailed in the rail yard Monday morning in the South Loop.

No passengers were onboard that train at Roosevelt Road and Canal Street.

The BNSF worker jumped from the top of the engine car and injured his leg. He is expected to be okay.

No word yet on what caused the accident. Service has not been affected for BNSF trains.
