Metra: Man, 26, struck and killed by train in Palatine

PALATINE (WLS) -- A 26-year-old man was struck and killed Saturday afternoon by a Metra train in northwest suburban Palatine, according to Metra officials.

Outbound Union Pacific Northwest (UP-NW) train No. 709 hit the man at about 2:30 p.m. near Palatine Road.

At about 4:30 p.m., Metra officials said that trains were not moving in either direction, but that they expected the trains to be moving shortly.
