Motorcyclist killed after hitting Indiana State Police patrol car on I-90

A motorcyclist was killed after a crash involving an Indiana State Police patrol car.

PORTAGE, Ind. (WLS) -- A 28-year-old motorcyclist was killed Friday night after crashing into an Indiana State Police patrol car on I-90 in Portage, Ind., police said.

The crash occurred at 9:30 p.m. just west of the Portage toll plaza. A 2013 BMW S1000RR motorcycle was traveling westbound on I-90 when it struck into the passenger side of the patrol car, which was in the process of making a U-turn, police said.

The motorcyclist died after being transported to Portage Community Hospital.

The victim was identified as Michael M. Damore, 28, of Highland, Ind., according to Indiana State Police.

Police said Damore's driver's license was suspended and the motorcycle was not registered. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
