BULLOCH COUNTY, Ga. (WLS) -- A Georgia police officer rescued a 10-year-old boy who was trapped under the family's ATV buggy.

Last Wednesday, dashcam video captured Deputy Rey Rodriguez spring into action after two children overturned the ATV in the mud. Charlie Waters, 10, was pinned underneath and his sister was in a state of shock, reports WTOC-TV.

"When I was able to see the young child, the top of the ATV was sitting right on his neck," said Rodriguez, who has patrolled Bulloch County for a decade.

Rodriguez earned a Lifesaving Medal from the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office and the gratitude of Charlie's mom.

That doesn't mean he kept that calm when he got home himself. When asked if he looked at his kids differently that night, Sgt. Rodriquez replied, "Oh yeah, hugged them tight."
