EVANSTON, Ill. (WLS) -- Service on the CTA Purple Line is resuming with residual delays after a person was fatally struck and pinned under a train near the Foster station in Evanston.

CTA officials said the person was struck by the train around 4 p.m. Service is shut down between Howard and Linden. Purple Line Express trains are operating only between Howard and the Loop.

Shuttle buses are in place to accommodate riders, CTA officials said, or they can take the 201 Central Bus as an alternate option.

The Evanston Fire Department said Foster Street is closed between Maple and Sherman Avenues. Evanston police said they are investigating the incident as a possible suicide. The victim has not been identified.
