Police: 5 shot in Austin neighborhood

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Five people were shot in Chicago's Austin neighborhood Tuesday night, police said.

Police said three women and two men were shot after an unknown man approached their group in the 200-block of South Lotus Avenue and opened fire around 9 p.m. The man then fled.

A 39-year-old woman was wounded in the leg and transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital in unknown condition. A 19-year-old woman was wounded in the back and arm and 17-year-old boy was wounded in the knee and both victims were transported to Stroger Hospital, police said. An 18-year-old man was also wounded in the leg and 20-year-old woman wounded in the arm.

Area North Detectives are investigating. No one is in custody.
