Police: Armed robbers using smartphone app to arrange meetings with victims in West Garfield Park

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police have issued an alert about armed robbers who used a smartphone app to arrange meetings with victims in the West Garfield Park neighborhood last week.

Two armed robberies occurred in the 300-block of North Karlov Avenue at 8:15 p.m. last Wednesday and at 7:20 p.m. last Thursday, police said.

After arranging a meeting with the victims for the purpose of buying a cell phone, the armed robbers entered the victims' vehicles, displayed a handgun and stole phones, money and a laptop from the victims, police said.

One suspect is described by police as 21-25 years old, 6 feet tall, 120-130 pounds with a tattoo above the right eye and another is described as 20-22 years old, 6'02 to 6'03, 120-130 pounds with dreadlocks.
