Police investigate 'targeted' gunfire at Plainfield home

PLAINFIELD, Ill. (WLS) -- Police are asking for the community's help in investigating what they say was targeted gunfire outside a home in suburban Plainfield.

Police say the resident was walking to the front door of his home in the 24000-block of Champion Drive around 6:42 p.m. Thursday when a vehicle drove by and fired multiple rounds at him.

The victim was grazed by a bullet fragment during the incident but refused medical treatment, officials said. Bullets also struck his residence and a vehicle parked in the driveway.

Police say the shooting was targeted, and are asking residents with more information on the incident to contact Plainfield police at 815-439-7652.
