WAUKEGAN, Ill. (WLS) -- Waukegan police have released surveillance video of an armed robbery at a gas station that took place very early Wednesday morning.

Police say officers were called to the gas station for reports of a shooting. Police say the two victims were getting gas in the 900-block of Grand Avenue around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday when they were approached by the offender, described only as a thin black male with facial hair.

Police say the suspect attempted to hit one of the victims with his gun when it fired, striking one victim in the shoulder. The other person attempted to stop the suspect from leaving and was struck in the head with the gun, according to police.

The shooting victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The second victim was treated and released at the scene by paramedics.
