Chicago police warn of robbers targeting Uber riders on North Side

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police are warning residents about a pair of robbers targeting Uber riders on the near North side.

Police say the two men approach a victim while they wait for an Uber ride and invite them into their vehicle. They say the robbers then intimidate victims, demanding and taking debit cards and PIN info.

Police say two such robberies have been reported, on Sept. 13 in the 1500-block of North Wells and on Sept. 19 in the 500-block of North State Street. Both incidents occurred in the early morning hours.

Police describe the suspects as a black male, 6 ft. 1 in. to 6 ft. 3 in. tall, 170-220 lbs. and between 27 and 39 years old, and a black male 5 ft. 6 in. to 5 ft. 8 in. tall, 180-190 lbs. and between 28 and 39 years old. Police say the suspects are possibly driving a black, four-door Chevy Impala with a rear tinted window.
