Police warn of armed robberies in Austin

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Police are warning residents of the city's Austin neighborhood after reports of a series of robberies at gunpoint in the area.

The latest incident happened Monday night when police say the offenders allegedly walked up to the victims, showed a handgun, and then stole their belongings.

Incidents were reported at the following locations:

  • 5200-block of W. Quincy on Oct. 5 at 5 a.m.
  • 5200-block of W. Quincy on Oct. 16 at 1:15 a.m.
  • 5300-block of W. Jackson on Oct. 19 at 9:45 p.m.

The suspects are described as multiple African American men between 20-35 years old around 5-foot-8 and 6-foot-2 weighing between 150-200 pounds. Anyone with information is asked to call Chicago police at 312-744-8263.
