CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police were involved in a shootout in the city's Park Manor neighborhood. Officers are questioning several people Thursday morning.

Investigators said shots were fired at police near East 71st Street and South Wabash Avenue around 11 p.m. Wednesday. The officers returned fire.

Cesar Hands, who works at a convenience store across the street from the scene, said he couldn't believe what he saw.

"Somebody jumped off the top of the roof up there and ran through the alley. The police chased him through the alley," Hands said.

Several young men were handcuffed and ushered into police cars at the scene. But authorities said those men were not arrested and have not been charged.

No one was injured in the shooting.

Area Central police are investigating the cause of the shootout.
