CHICAGO -- A 16-year-old girl is recovering after being shot in her South Side home early Saturday morning, police said.

Monet Harris was in her home on the 9500-block of South Green Street in the city's Washington Heights neighborhood when shots were fired through the front window just after midnight Saturday.

Harris was shot in the arm and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

A friend of the victim was in the room with her when the shooting happened.

"All I know is we hear shots and I hear glass break, a bullet come through and I feel it ricochet," said witness Geneva Andrews. "The stuff ricochet off the wall and hit my neck and we all on the ground, and all of a sudden she says, 'I'm hit, I'm hit, I'm hit. They shot me bro, they shot me.'"

Harris is in stable condition as police continue to investigate the shooting. No one is in custody.
