ELGIN, Ill. (WLS) -- In the northwest suburbs, more than a dozen emergency medical service agencies are better equipped to handle a mass shooting situation.

On Friday, those agencies received emergency response kits at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin.

The kits provide immediate medical needs of shooting victims.

Police and fire departments from Algonquin, Lake in the Hills and Bartlett are among the 17 agencies that participated in the Northern Illinois Casualty Response Task Force.
