CHICAGO (WLS) -- There was no time to put on his shoes. So he ran out in socks.

An East Humboldt Park man is being called a hero after he helped save a 47-year-old woman from a sex assault.

DNAInfo says it happened Monday night in the 2600-block of West Chicago.

The attacker reportedly followed the woman off a bus, pushed her to the ground and tried to assault her.

A neighbor heard her screams, ran out in socks and chased the suspect down for police.

Ledarius Johnson, 18, faces one count of criminal sex abuse.
