T-shirts sold to benefit Aaron Toppen, Mokena soldier killed by friendly fire

MOKENA, Ill. (WLS) -- Residents in Mokena are making efforts to help the family of an Illinois soldier who died in Afghanistan.

Hundreds of t-shirts have been sold to benefit the relatives of 19-year-old Pvt. Aaron Toppen. He was one of five soldiers killed on June 9 in a friendly fire airstrike.

His remains are expected to return to his hometown within the week.

No date has been set for his funeral.
