Texas man accused of hitting 14-year-old daughter with car

HOUSTON -- A Houston man is accused of running into his teenage daughter on purpose, after allegedly getting upset with her over a pair of headphones.

On Aug. 31, the 14-year-old girl was on her way to school with her father and siblings, using some headphones she says her brother her found at school. She told police that her father, Christopher Wayne Mosley, kept calling her a thief, stopped the car and tried to slap her in the back seat. She says he drove a little further, stopped the car again, and she got out to try to walk to school.

The girl tells police that Mosley got out of the car, pulled her hair and tried to force her back into the car. She walked faster toward her school. That's when the girl says her father sped up and struck her with the car, throwing her into the ditch. The girl's sisters helped her back into the car.

Houston police are investigating and so is the Department of Family and Protective Services.

"We are currently investigating, involving allegations of abuse, but because of confidentiality that's the most I can say about the case," said Tiffani Butler with the Department of Family and Protective Services.

A witness told police he saw the confrontation, and stated the car was going about 15 to 20 miles per hour when it slammed into the girl, according to court documents. He said he could tell the girl was dazed, in pain and limping after she was struck.

Mosley, 39, is charged with injury to a child. He was arrested at his home Tuesday.

Nobody was at Mosley's home on Wednesday. The truck in the driveway is registered to him. The child's mother lives at another address.

"In some cases we may have the child not see the other parent or they may have supervised visits with that parent," Butler said. "We keep in contact and make sure that is the case while we're doing the investigation."
