VIDEO: 11-year-old boy slips off ski lift in Whistler, Canada

WHISTLER, Canada (WLS) -- An 11-year-old boy was rescued after he slipped off a ski lift in Whistler, Canada.

The boy said he dropped his pole while getting onto the lift and wasn't safely on the chair when the lift started moving.

Fortunately, he slipped while the chair was still close to the lift station. The operator shut the lift down quickly and call for help.

YouTube video shows the boy only dangled from the lift for about six minutes before rescuers were able to secure a tarp beneath him.

The boy let go of the chair and landed safely. He was not hurt.
