Lori Stokes reporting

NEW YORK -- Police are looking for two men who attacked a woman and tried to steal her cell phone in the Bronx until she fought back.

Around 7 p.m. on March 12, the suspects approached 18-year-old woman as she went into her home on the 1000 block of College Avenue in the Melrose section and demanded her cell phone.

The victim refused, but one suspect tried to grab her from behind and place her in a chokehold. He then pushed her against a railing. The second suspect tried to forcefully remove the victims cell phone from her hand.

But the suspects could not get it, so they fled. There were no reported injuries. It appears to be a random crime.

One suspect is a black man, about 17, 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 160 lbs., with brown eyes and black hair. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, gray jacket, light colored hooded sweatshirt and sneakers. The second suspect is a black man with a heavy build, about 5 feet 7 inches tall. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, light colored hooded sweatshirt, knit cap and a dark colored jacket.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
