PARK RIDGE, Ill. (WLS) -- A north suburban city is marking the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II in ceremonies honoring those lost in the war.

Veterans, residents and state lawmakers attended the re-dedication ceremony of the American Legion War Memorial at South Park in Park Ridge, Ill.

The festivities began with a wreath-laying to honor the 47 men from Park Ridge who died in the war.

World War II ended 70 years ago Friday.
